A man was shot in the parking lot of the Menlyn Maine shopping complex in Pretoria on Monday morning. Be warned: visuals may upset sensitive viewers.
The complex confirmed the incident in a statement, saying that the shooting happened around 11:55 p.m.
“Menlyn Maine security was on the scene immediately and police shortly thereafter,” the statement said.
A 45-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the incident in connection with the shooting at the center.
It is alleged that the deceased was with two other men when the suspect approached them and an altercation took place.
According to police, the suspect appeared to have gone to his car, returned with a firearm and fired more than one shot at the deceased who allegedly tried to defuse the situation.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said police had the firearm in their possession and are currently investigating the motive.
The suspect will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
