A video of a break-in at Tops!, Glenwood was shared on social media on Thursday.
The looting started a day before the lockdown with people running to Tops!.
It’s not yet clear if this incidents are related to general crime or the banning of cigarettes and alcohol during the lockdown.
The Western Cape Government revoked the cigarette ban on Wednesday.
In a statement on the Western Cape Government website, the spokesperson for the Provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities says that Cigarettes may be sold during the lockdown, but only together with essential goods.
