A Brandfort police officer in the Free State allegedly slapped a bartender and threatened him with his firearm after the man allegedly bit him.
The bartender at Koffies Pub was arrested on Sunday morning on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Motantsi Makhele, the provincial police spokesman, said the incident started outside the street when two police officers wanted to arrest a drunk driver.
“When the officer wanted to arrest him, he resisted and took out a knife. The member then apparently slapped him with an open hand, “Makhele said.
Before his arrest, Van Vuuren said the constable pushed him around and thrust his finger into his face five times.
