Thabiso Zulu, one of the whistle-blowers in the Sindiso Magaqa murder case, was shot in the arm in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday night.
“They got me, but the fight continues. I am weak and feel betrayed by the state, ”Zulu said this morning.
Zulu was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment after the incident and has since been discharged. He is currently in a “safe place”, says friends of his who prefer to remain anonymous.
Magaqa was shot in July 2017 with his colleagues Nontsikelelo Mafa and Jabu Msiya in the uMzimkhulu area. He died in September 2017 due to complications from multiple gunshot wounds. Mafa and Msiya both survived the attack.
Since Zulu and Stuta announced the allegations of corruption at Magaqa’s funeral, they have received several death threats. They approached the police for assistance and were sent from port to starboard. Zulu finally approached the Public Protector.
