Today the President Ramaphosa addressed the people and the press of the plans to bring back the 122 South Africans from Wuhan, China.
President Ramaphosa stressed to the public that “We are not going to fetch diseased ridden people from China, we are bringing back our healthy young people. Their parents are just like us and have said they want their Children back”
The repatriated have reported no signs of the virus and will be held in a 21-day quarantine, President Ramaphosa says “There will be a lockdown, which will be supervised by the Defence force”.
“I want to assure South Africans that there are NO sick persons we are bringing back, no sickness that we are bringing back,” he said.
At this stage, the quarantine location has not been released to the public but the President has assured the public that the area is secure and “no disease is going to spill out of that area”
The flight will be leaving from OR Tambo at 9 PM today will have 15 officials on board to ensure the safety of those returning to South Africa.
