The Tokelo Secondary School was set alight in the early hours on Thursday. The school went up in flames as the school suspect arson.
The Gauteng Education Department made a statement on Twitter.

The Gauteng MEC for Education, Mr Lesufi wishes to inform that, the Principal of Tokelo High School received information in the early hours of Thursday, 02 January 2020, that the school was on fire.
Subsequently, fire fighters were dispatched and managed to extinguish the fire, unfortunately, Four (4) ICT Classrooms on the first floor of a block of eight (8) classes burnt down to ashes.

The Provincial Department of Education spokesperson made the following statement.
Fire marshalls have confirmed that this is pure arson, so we wish to call upon members of the community who might have witnessed or who may know something about this incident to interact with the police so that they can apprehend the suspects.
