Protestors have today stormed the Fairview racecourse in Port Elizbeth for what TimesLive describes as a “UIF Protest”.
It has been reported that people are ‘raging’ as they are due payments which are now late, in retaliation they have stormed the racecourse and started to attack the animals.
“It is alleged the grooms who worked at the stables had lost their jobs and were unhappy about not receiving UIF payments,” says Times Live
One horse has been killed by protestors breaking its legs and another 22 have been traumatized. The situation is under control and the Police are investigating and have said they will be making arrests.
“The riot is still going on but it seems that cops have got it under control. They have set a horse alight, they killed one, there are a couple with broken legs.”
