Police have launched a huge manhunt after a 53-year-old man and his 27-year-old son was gunned down on Tuesday in Alberton on the Gauteng East Rand.
Police spokesman Mavela Masondo said the father and son was driving in a BMW at about 1pm on Tuesday when an unknown number of men stopped in a white Hyundai i10 next to their car and fired at them.
Both men in the BMW were hit several times. Paramedics declared them dead at the scene.
“The motive for the murder is unknown and is being investigated,” Masondo says.
Masondo could not confirm the social media claim that one of the victims was a taxi driver.
ER24 spokesman Ross Campbell said paramedics arrived on the scene before 2pm. “The two men were shot several times and were already dead.
“It seems they have been shot at least 17 times on their vehicle. The exact circumstances of the incident are unknown. Police officers scoured the scene for clues after members of the Ekurhuleni metro police cordoned off the area, ”says Campbell.
