On day 2 of the South African 21-day lockdown, many South Africans are still in the streets trying to get that last-minute shopping. In many shopping centers, there are no signs of social distancing.
On the first day of South Africa’s lockdown, police made 55 arrests of people who violated the regulations, thereby jeopardizing the safety of their fellow citizens.
Cele said some 24,000 law enforcement officers were deployed, and 172 roadblocks were erected nationwide.
Total number of arrests made on Saturday is still unknown.
