The coronavirus erupted in China at the end of 2019 and the death toll in China rose to 136 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, passengers arrived in Cape Town from Hong Kong and many were concerned that these passengers did not go through a full screening process. Chinese passengers traveling around the world were fully screened and isolated.

Twitter users expressed some concerns.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said on Wednesday there was ongoing contact with the South Africans in Wuhan, and according to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, they are not currently in danger.

“No cases have been identified in South Africa yet and we are constantly monitoring the situation,” Mkhize said.
