About 17 vehicles were damaged on Tuesday and several windows of campus buildings were broken when students stoned cars during a CPUT Belville protests.
Police are investigating a case of public violence after sporadic protests broke out at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Police spokesman Frederick van Wyk confirmed that Bellville South police were called to the scene where they found about 300 students outside the student center.
“The students smashed the windows of the engineering building, as well as the security office, and cars in the parking lot were also stoned.”
The public order police unit was called in and the students peacefully disembarked and fled.
“No injuries were reported and no one was arrested. Currently, the campus is calm and everything is back to normal. ”
