Police arrested ten people on Wednesday after a back-and-forth shooting in connection with the stoning of nine Lesotho civilians in January this year.

Police spokeswoman Kay Makhubele said in a media statement that police believe the ten could be linked to the incident in which ten illegal miners were killed in stone in Roodepoort.

According to Makhubele, the police launched a search after the bodies were found in the streets of Matholeville, Roodepoort.

According to information, the group that was killed were illegal miners and were killed by another group, also from Lesotho.

Police followed up on the suspects on Wednesday as the men fired at them.

Makhubele said two suspects were wounded in the shooting and are under police surveillance in the hospital while eight are in custody.
