A teenage girl was rescued from an alleged brothel in Bloemfontein over the weekend after the Hawks responded to a tip and hit the apartment.
COL. Hawks spokeswoman Katlego Mogale says the Hawks struck on the flat in Nelson Mandela Drive after receiving a hint that the place is believed to be used as a brothel. Ten young women, including a 14-year-old girl, were rescued.
The Hawks also arrested a 27-year-old suspect and drugs were found at the scene.
“A list of the women’s details was found in a diary. The list indicates how much each woman earns daily. ”
The women were taken to a place of safety, where they would receive the necessary medical care.
The 14-year-old girl was handed over to social workers.
“The suspect will soon appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on a charge of running a brothel, possession of drugs and trafficking in human beings,” says Mogale.
The investigation is ongoing.
