A traffic officer who was struck near Mahikeng in the North West on Friday was discharged from the hospital.
North West’s Department of Community Safety said in a statement:
“The taxi driver stopped, but unfortunately the vehicle behind the taxi was too close. It hit the taxi. The momentum of the collision pushed the taxi forward and then it hit Mahlatsi. “
The accident happened on the N18 between the Lekoko and Madibe A Makgabana settlements.
Mahlatsi and two passengers in the taxi were lightly injured and treated at a nearby hospital for their injuries.
MEC for community safety in the North West, says he is glad Mahlatsi that he is recovering well. “It wasn’t the best way to start the year, but sometimes things like that happen.”
Lehari also took the opportunity to plead with road users to use roads responsibly. He warned people who were driving too fast and other irresponsible road behaviors would not be tolerated.
