A 17-year-old pupil from a Gauteng high school has been arrested after drugs were found in his possession.
The pupil also sold the drugs to fellow pupils.
The arrest comes after a police raid on Thursday at Sapphire Secondary School in Bophelong outside Vanderbijlpark by police.
With their unexpected visit to the school, they came across crystal meth and various weapons that pupils had with them.
Faith Mazibuko, community safety MEC in Gauteng, who was also part of the operation, says she was shocked by what they found.
“We even found girls carrying knives. Other weapons include sharpened teaspoons and scissors.
“However, the most worrying finding was drugs. The student claims he sells the drug to someone else for R50 a parcel, ”says Mazibuko.
She says teachers have also complained to her that pupils threaten them and regularly have weapons with them.
Police are expected to interview the student to find out who the other dealers are and where they are getting the drugs.
