Staff from early childhood development centers currently under the Children’s Act may finally return to work. However, this does not mean that toddlers may return to kindergarten.

The Department of Social Development said in a statement on Sunday that only nursery schools, crèches and daycare centers are allowed to return to do the necessary preparation for when preschoolers will finally be able to return.

However, a date for toddlers’ return has not yet been announced and no child may return to a nursery school until then, the department emphasized in the statement.

According to the statement, staff from early childhood development centers should now have the necessary health protocols ready at the center. “It remains the responsibility of the center concerned to ensure that staff members comply with the necessary health measures and social distance maintenance when returning to the workplace,” the department explained.
