A South African from Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal has decided to leave Wuhan and return home to South Africa without her fiancé.
The South African government previously announced that it would help bring South Africans back from Wuhan amongst the fears of the increased risk of Coronavirus (Covid-19), up to now it has claimed over 3,000 lives.
Roxanne Rawlins is one of the 151 South Africans that are due to return from South Africa in the next seven to ten days. However, the decision did not come easy, Rawlins decided that she would return to South Africa without her fiancé. Her fiancé Luri Prinich is a Ukranian citizen which means he will not be part of the plans made by South Africa to get people home.
It’s unclear when they will next see each other again as they will both have to return to their own countries and be entered into quarantine, it has been estimated that they could see each other again in May.
The couple have documented every step of their journey over social media and in their recent video they released details on their journey to get home. They also released a short statement saying that “The situation here [Wuhan] has changed. We have no idea when the lockdown will come to an end. It’s been a month and there are no answers as to when it might be over. The restrictions are also increasing. “
