Health Minister Mkhize says that the overall restriction helped the country prepare for the increase in infections.
According to him, SA currently has about 400 insulation facilities with 38,000 beds. Screening will also be sharpened across the country in the future.
However, he says there is a wide variety of infections across the country and there are areas where the spread / transmission of the virus happens much faster.
“There are counties where no infections have been reported, but after easing the restriction, we now see how the numbers are growing.”
Mkhize says we are moving closer to a sad storm.
“Our country is riding the storm. Positive cases will increase. The death rate will increase. The preparations made so far will now be used.”
