A multi-unit team in Upington (Upington Border Police, Upington K9 Unit and Paballelo Visible Police) received a tip-off of drug possessions which lead to six successful arrests.
The team worked together on the 11th March 2020 to investigate a tip-off received, on arrival they found 6 suspects that were aged between 22 and 56 to have in their possession “dagga and Khat plants”. The estimated street value of the seizure is around R70,000.
NewsLiteSA has reported on multiple dagga arrests in the past month and majority of those are through community tip-offs which shows that the communities are no longer standing for criminal activity around them.
All 6 suspects have been arrested and charged with dealing in dagga and khat and are due to appear in court soon.
“The Acting Commander of the ZF Mcawu, Brigadier Besnaar applauded members of the community for working in partnership with the police in the endeavours to root-out criminal activities within their own community.” said Cpt Olebogeng Tau Twana
