Parliament confirmed that “sick” Jacob Zuma will attend the state of the nation address on Thursday, though it is widely reported that he is too ill to appear in court.
Zuma failed to attend his court proceedings while his defense entered a suspected doctored sick note into the record.
This is the first time Zuma has attended the state speech after Ramaphosa replaced him as president in 2018.
Zuma will also have to explain in May, when he reappears in court, why he failed to appear in court last week.
Former president. Thabo Mbeki and former president. Kgalema Motlanthe will also attend the state speech on Thursday.
