Two suspects were arrested today after they made attempts to carry out an armed robbery against a truck transporting high-value items on the M13. The incident occurred around 9 am.
Police were alerted when four suspects driving in a “Toyota Quantum” made attempts to stop the two vehicles which were being escorted by security services.
A shootout started between the suspects and security leaving one of the suspects wounded and required medical attention at the hospital while under the watch of a guard.
The other suspect was later arrested when he was found 5km away from the scene.
A pistol and cellphones were successfully recovered from the scene.
Both suspects will report to the Pinetown Magistrates court at a later date facing attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm charge.
