A report of sexual assault was sent through to the Atlantis Police Station, the alleged suspect in question is the Atlantis Commander.

Due to the nature of the claim against a high ranking employee, there was a decision to move the commander in question to another location to continue work whilst investigations continue. The SAPS have taken this decision to avoid possibilities of the case to be hindered with and the victim to receive a fair investigation.

The SAPS management reassured that all internal disciplinary actions will be taken if necessary.

“We would refrain from communicating further on the matter until the investigations are finalised. “

Brig. Novela Potelwa has said “As a law enforcement agency committed to rooting out all forms of crime including those targeting women and children, we wish to reiterate our commitment to support victims of crime and ensuring their cases are properly investigated. “
