Schabir Shaik, former financial adviser to Jacob Zuma, suffers from chronic high blood pressure and was therefore released on medical parole.

Mo Shaik, a brother of Schabir, revealed in an interview with GrootFM Schabir’s medical condition on Monday morning.

“I hope he will forgive me for the reveal. I believe he will. South Africa is one of the countries with the highest incidence of high blood pressure. The Afrikaner community and certainly the South African Indian community suffer. High blood pressure is an unseen killer.

Schabir suffers from a type of high blood pressure resistant to medication, ”says Mo in the interview.

He said Shaik’s organs were also affected by his high blood pressure. “In Schabir’s case, several of his organs also started to give in. The prison conditions worsened his condition. “

According to him, at the time, the medical board decided to release Shaik on medical parole because the “costs” surrounding his care were well beyond the prison’s budget.

“The medical board and several specialists then decided that it would be better if Schabir was cared for at home,” says Mo.
