Refugees that are currently being housed at the Cape Town Methodist Church have come under scrutiny within the area after police had to intervene after multiple accounts of assaults.
It’s believed that the man who has been arrested is of Congo heritage and has eight assault charges over his head, five of which are GBH.
After the refugee group heard of the arrest they caused further disruptions at the Cape Town Central police station early hours of this morning and made demands that the man should be released. The Cape Town Police had to tell the group multiple times to leave the area and after some time they listened to the orders and the area was back under control.
No major injuries have been reported after the group ascended on the Cape Town Police Station.
