President Ramaphosa has come forward to announce that the AU Commissioners meeting due to take place Thursday 19th March has been postponed.
At this time of the COVID-19 outbreak and what Ramaphosa describes as a “national disaster” traveling to Ethiopia would not be a sensible decision.
Ramaphosa has put forward that his priorities at the moment are to lead the National Command Council who meet three times a week to discuss the COVID-19 situation in South Africa.
The plans for the meeting were to discuss the “programme of work of the African Union”, this would have been Ramaphosa’s first meet since he was opted to take Chair in February 2020.
The meeting will continue at a later date, they have agreed for April 2020, however, this could be subject to change at any time.
