Jean-Paul Mira, a French doctor, has sparked controversy across the world with what most people are describing as “racist” plans. There have been small studies to suggest that the tuberculosis vaccine could help cure COVID-19 and Africa may be the key to progressing this study.
The head of intensive care at the Cochin hospital said live on LCI, a news channel in France “If I can be provocative, shouldn’t we do this study in Africa”
Mira went on to say that the African nations currently have no masks, no treatments, and no reanimation in an attempt to further strengthen his argument. The doctor suggested that the study would be the same as when prostitutes are used for HIV testing as they are highly exposed by the disease.
Social Media this morning has retaliated with the statements made by the doctor, currently, #AfricansAreNotLabRats is trending on Twitter with thousands of users expressing that “We are not guinea pigs”
Mira later went on to apologize saying that the video clip had been distorted and crucial parts of the debate had been missed out in attempts to circulate Fake News. “I want to present all my apologies to those who were hurt, shocked and felt insulted by the remarks that I clumsily expressed on LCI this week.”
The French Doctor went on to say that full tests will be carried out in Europe and Africa should not be forgotten or excluded from this study.
