Adam Catzavelos was fined R50 000 or two years in prison, suspended for five years, on Friday in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg.
This comes after he pleaded guilty last year to a charge of crimen injuria for using the k-word.
He acknowledged through his legal representative that the use of the k-word had impaired people’s dignity.
His sentencing began on February 13, during which he said he was now “a new person” and “completely born again”.
This case comes after Catzavelos used the k-word in a video while being on holiday in Greece.
Some Twitter users were hoping for a maximum sentence including some EFF members. Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr said ” Catzavelos is lucky with R50 000. I lose hundreds of thousands and I don’t even use the k-word”.
