Pupils ‘bleeding through the nose’ after eating dagga cookies

Soweto police are investigating an incident in which pupils became ill after eating dagga cookies.

A total of 12 pupils from Ikusasalethu Secondary School were admitted to the hospital after allegedly eating some of the cookies and suddenly began vomiting, bleeding through their noses during school hours on Thursday.

According to Capt. Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele pupils were rushed to Bheki Mlangeni Hospital for treatment.

He said a 21-year-old woman was arrested and is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday on drug trafficking charges.

According to a Twitter entry by Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC, the majority of pupils have already been dismissed, but some of them are still being treated at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
