Three Police officers of the Ficksburg station have been arrested on Thursday on suspicion of robbery.
Thandi Mbambo, Police spokesperson has reported that the arrests stem from an incident that occurred on January 13.
Motolobdi Macholo has told officers that he was at his home situated on the Koeijenfontein farm when he heard a knock at the door. When Macholo answered the door he was greeted by men that identified themselves as police officers.
The civilian clothed ‘officers’ entered the property and told Macholo they were following up inquiries for suspicion of marijuana being sold and stored on the farm.
“All three suspects apparently pointed their firearms at him and ordered him to remove the marijuana. They then tied him up and took him to two other houses on the farm, where they interviewed two other victims,”
The three men stated that more officers with dogs were on the way to the property in a bid to apply pressure to the victims.
The suspects left the property but did not untie the victims, leaving them to free themselves.
All victims managed to free themselves and later discovered that items such as a compressor, electrical cables, and animal feed were missing.
The victims reported the incident to the police and a case of house robbery was opened.
The suspects appear in court in Ficksburg on Monday, February 3.
