A lieutenant-general of the police and two of her family members have been arrested on charges of fraud and corruption.
Sontaga Seisa, acting spokesman for the Independent Police Investigation Directorate (Opod), said Lt. Gen. Adeline Shezi, 49, appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crime Court on Tuesday with two family members, Tshepo Khoza, 39, and Matilda Khoza, 63.
“The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority. Shezi was the head of the SAPS technology management when a warrant was issued for her and her two family members. They appeared in court on charges of fraud and corruption to the value of R1 174 057.57. “
The three persons were released on bail of R1 000 each. They must appear in court again on February 7, 2020.
“Opod will continue to perform its duties without fear or preference and ensure that police officers accused of offenses are held accountable, regardless of their rank and seniority.”
