Police arrest eight cash-in-transit plotters

Eight suspects in total have been arrested in Thembaleuthu after intelligence lead the Hawk’s and George cluster to intercept an alleged cash-in-transit.

The arrested suspects are as follows – David Ndamase (58), Luthando Bartman (35), Nicolas Tyali (65), Sakhekile Manga (27), Sicelo Dyani (35), Sivuyile Bathembu (37), Siyabulela Mabuya (44), Vuyo Mjwango (43).

The suspicion was aroused when a stolen Isuzu bakkie had been taken in Khayelitsha. Both teams spotted the vehicle on Qhaw Street in Thembalethu when they took the opportunity to pounce.

When the stolen vehicle was searched they found unlicensed firearms and ammunition which has now been sent off for further forensic analysis.

All eight of the suspects attended Thembalethu Magistrate’s Court yesterday on “armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition charges”, they await further court proceedings on the 15th January 2020.

All eight remain in custody and bail will be determined at the next court proceedings.
