Pioneer Foods has informed the National Consumer Commission that it will recall a consignment of Liqui Fruit Red Grape Still 330 ml cans.

Acting Consumer Commissioner Thezi Mabuza said that although the commission had not yet received comprehensive notice under the safety regulations for the recall of Pioneer’s product, the company was investigating the extent of the problem.

“The information we have is that pieces of glass were found in the product and that it posed a danger to consumers if they drank it,” said Mabuza.

“We ask consumers who bought the product to stop using it immediately and take it back to the retailer where they bought it for a full refund.

“The commission will, once an official notice has been received, monitor the recall of the product,” she said.
