A 29-year-old man had been arrested on Saturday, 28th March 2020 for biting and stabbing a police officer in Ikageng, Potchefstroom.
The Ikageng SAPS were carrying out their patrols early hours of the morning to ensure that South African’s are following lockdown rules when they came across a young man.
They stopped the man and carried out a search, they found a laptop which the suspect claims to be his friends. The officers then decided to search the man thoroughly and they discovered a knife.
When the suspect knew that the officers saw the knife he made attempts to flee. While the suspect tried to flee the officers grabbed hold of him and during a scuffle, he had bitten one of the officers in the hand and also stabbed the same officer in the left hand.
The suspect is due to appear at Potchefstroom Magistrates Court this coming Monday and faces charges for “possession of suspected stolen property and assault”
