Speaking at a press briefing, Minister Jackson Mthembu says the measures surrounding cigarettes will not be lifted.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, briefed the media on Thursday morning.

“In the amendments, we are stressing the issue of the prohibition of transportation of liquor. The only alcohol that is allowed to be transported is that used for commercial purposes for our sanitisers and related issues,” she said.

“But liquor that we drink is not allowed to be transported, in the same way that it is not allowed to be sold. So that is what we are adding.”

Defense Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula says people should stay in their homes and not go and see if the soldiers or the police are doing their job.

“We have not put the measures in place because we are a common government.”

She asks people not to leave their homes because they could possibly contract the virus and then spread it in their household.
