The two officers that had been arrested on the 28th August 2020 in connection with the killing of 16-year-old Nathaniel Julius of Eldorado Park appeared briefly at the Protea magistrate’s court today.
The court had heard during the hearing that Simon Scorpion Ndyalvane, 43, has previously been convicted of a crime, however, at this stage they will not disclose which offense has previously been committed.
The officers will appear in court again on the 22nd September 2020 for their bail hearing and this is the time when the previously convicted crime will come to light.
Simon Scorpion Ndyalvane and Caylene Whiteboy face charges of possession of prohibited ammunition, discharging a firearm in public and murder.
The remaining man, Forster Netshiongolo, will face charges of defeating the ends of justice and murder.
The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjondwane has reported that the defense team has requested a postponement which will buy them some time to go through documents and better prepare for the bail application.
