The number of people infected with the coronavirus continues to rise.

In the midst of that news, tourists and visitors arrived on Hong Kong CX 749 from Hong Kong on Thursday at OR Tambo Airport. Newslite SA reported yesterday of Chinese tourists entering at Cape Town.

Many passengers on the flight wore protective face masks due to the outbreak of the 2019 coronavirus in China.

Interior Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said all visitors from Asia, and especially China, are being investigated here to ensure they do not have the virus.

The visitor’s fever is measured. Any tourist who looks sick is also being investigated Motsoaledi said.

Health officials inspect every international ship or aircraft to determine if anyone on board is ill. If a tourist becomes ill on the way to South Africa, officials will notify the port or airport. The person will be examined upon arrival.

Additional staff was deployed at OR Tambo Airport. Any tourist coming from China must complete a questionnaire.
