Melville shooting, two patients discharged, one critical

The attack on the Poppy’s restaurant shocked the nation on New Years Day, The Gauteng Police are hoping to have a break through with the investigation soon.

Panya Lesufi visited the Helen Joseph State Hopsital on Friday to give support and comfort to the victims and victims family. Whilst at the hospital this is when he spoke out and hopes they have a breakthrough in the investigation soon.

The vehicle that drove past Poppy’s restaurant on New Years Day and opened fire on customers has been confirmed by Police to be a BMW sports utility vehicle. The vehicle has also been confirmed to have forged plates making it difficult to track the owner.

Two patients have recently been discharged from the hospital while one still remains in a critical condition.

Lesufi said during this morning’s visit to the hospital that at this stage one should not speculate at this stage whether the incident is gang-related. He did, however, confirm that the Melville shootings and similar shootings in Newtown are not connected at this time.
