The South African Government has announced that this week the “mass screening” of the COVID-19 virus will intensify in their efforts to further contain the virus.
Premier Job Mokgoro has said that on the 7th April 2020 he will be in the Bojanala Platinum District to start the screening, testing and tracing of infections. Mokgoro will be in the district and carry out duties for a week and also distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to taxi ranks in the area, starting with the Rustenburg taxi rank.
Rustenburg taxi rank is the biggest in the province and this is why extra care will be taken towards it, other taxi ranks will also have PPE deliveries.
“The mass screening, testing and tracing programme will be rolled out in Tlhabane and Geelhout Park areas in Rustenburg, from Tuesday until Thursday.” said Premier Job Mokgoro
To further contain the virus their will be quarantine sites for those testing positive to COVID-19 and shelters will be provided for homeless in the district.
Rustenburg will receive extra special care during this week as the area has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases according to the Health Minister.
