yril Ramaphosa announced Thursday in his State of the Nation speech that hemp and marijuana is legalized for medicinal use.
“This year we will regulate the commercial use of hemp products and give small-scale farmers the opportunity to farm with them.
“Policy will be formulated on how marijuana can be used for medicinal purposes, such as is in line with world trends,” he said.
Ramaphosa added that he can see some of the guests at the State of the Nation address are very excited about the announcement. He “wonders” if they might use it themselves.
Mboweni has repeatedly tweeted that he is approaching the Cabinet to allow marijuana farming.
He has also tweeted photos of dagga plants on his farm several times.
He said dagga farming could easily earn an extra R4bn for the country.
