A Bethlehem man in the Free State who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death after a street fight will apply for bail next week.
Motantsi Makhele, provincial police spokesman, says Mduduzi Mdakane, 41, appeared briefly in Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after allegedly killing his girlfriend Dibuseng Khahleli, 27, two days earlier after a heated argument.
“Mdakane and Khahleli were walking in the Bohlokong neighborhood on Sunday afternoon when a quarrel ensued between them. As they fought, he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his girlfriend next to her ear. “
She was rushed to the hospital where she died from her wounds.
Provincial Commissioner Baile Motswenyane says she is concerned about women losing their lives to their partners.
“Signs and symptoms of toxic relationships are always there and people should seek help as soon as possible. Mortality is one of the last steps in domestic violence and totally unsolicited. “
Mdakane formally applies for bail next Tuesday.
