A man was robbed and shot dead at a traffic light in Port Elizabeth on Monday afternoon.
The robbers allegedly shot Abdul Kieran Haroon, 35, once in the chest and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to police information, Haroon and two other men were in a Quantum minibus on the way to a bank on the way to pay money.
It is alleged that six men, one of whom was armed, surrounded the minibus as they stood at a traffic light at the corner of CJ Langenhoven and Norvic roads.
“One suspect opened the driver’s door and demanded money. None of the occupants responded to the claim and a shot was fired, which (Haroon) struck in the chest, ”says Capt. Police spokeswoman Sandra Janse van Rensburg.
The occupant next to Haroon then handed over the money in their possession and the robbers ran away.
According to a source, Haroon and his fellow passengers went to several companies shortly before the attack to collect money, before driving out of Korsten to deposit the money.
Janse van Rensburg says anyone with information about the murder and robbery can call the Mount Road police station on 041 394 6243.
