The community of Keimoes was horrified after the body of a young woman was found in a pit toilet in Gamakor on Sunday evening.
It is believed the woman was between the ages of 18 and 20 and her neck was apparently broken before her body was cut into pieces and her suspected killer threw it in the pit toilet next to a house in this neighborhood.
The owner of the shack, a 25-year-old man, was arrested shortly afterward and is expected to appear in the Northern Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Community activist Esmarelda McKay says the community was shocked and unaware of the incident.
McKay said the woman was suspected of being murdered on Saturday.
She calls on the community to come up with information to identify the woman so her family can be notified of her death.
“Her family does not yet know she was killed so brutally. We need everyone’s help to identify her. “
McKay says it’s time for communities to add the word and say, “Enough is enough.”
She says the time has come for everyone to work together to secure communities and neighborhoods.
