A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Henning Schourie, 82, and his wife, Hilda, 80.
Capt. Police spokesperson Jerbes de Bruyn said “the couple were found dead at their home in Annadale Street in Sophiatown, Gauteng, around 12:55 on Saturday.”
“According to members of ADT security services, they saw a suspect assault the female victim. When they ordered the suspect to stop, he fled the scene by jumping over the wall, ”De Bruyn explained. “One of the security officers pursued him and shot the suspect in the thigh.”
Police were called to the scene. Henning and Hilda succumbed to their injuries.
“The police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery. It is not yet known if other suspects were also involved in the robbery. ”
