A man has been arrested for the murder of a pregnant woman from Bonteheuwel, Cape Town, Western Cape police confirmed on Saturday.
Police spokesman Noloyiso Rwexana says a 42-year-old man was arrested after the woman was shot Wednesday night. She later died in the hospital.
“The suspect is expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Rwexana said.
Angus McKenzie, a council member in the area, identified the woman as 30-year-old Petula Williams.
According to McKenzie, she was shot in her home in Terblanche Street at around 5:30 p.m. The killer apparently walked into the woman’s home and shot her in the torso and left.
This incident is apparently related to gang violence between opposing groups that reached a focal point.
