A 20-year-old man from Dan Pienaar in Bloemfontein and his girlfriend were hijacked in front of his home in Leipoldt Street on Friday night.
The two suspects chased away with their cell phones, money and bakkie.
Police spokesperson Thandi Mbambo said a car hijacking complaint had been filed with the Bayswater police station.
The man claims he was sitting in his car with his girlfriend on Friday night around 20:45 and drove out of his garage when he saw two men approaching.
“One of them opened the driver’s door and pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to get out of the vehicle.”
The man did as he says. The other suspect walked around the car and ordered cellphones and money from the girl.
“They also demanded the car keys and his belongings. The suspects fled with the man’s bakkie. “
The vehicle was detected in the Park Road area.
Werner Schmidt, who also lives in the street five houses from where the hijacking took place, wrote about it on Facebook on Saturday.
“This is the first hijack in our street. I hate that it feels so mundane. ”
