The poll by Dear South Africa comes after Parliament earlier announced the deadline for written submissions for the 18th Amendment Bill is January 31, 2020.

With less than a month left for the public to make written submissions on whether or not the Constitution should be amended to allow expropriation of land without compensation, 88% of participants in an online poll oppose such an amendment.

The poll shows that currently, most South Africans do not support the amendment of Section 25 of the constitution.

You can participate by visiting Dear South Africa.

The poll comes after the EFF accused parliament of not giving land expropriation enough publicity.

The party says if expropriation without compensation becomes a reality, it will be a historic victory needed to “liberate the country from colonialism”.

The process of sec. 25 of the Constitution began after the ANC decided in December 2017 in Nasrec, Johannesburg.
