All temporary identity documents issued during the national disaster state that have not yet expired will be extended until 31 October.

This is one of the announcements made by dr. Interior Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said at a news conference on Thursday.

He also elaborated on the regulations regarding services provided by Home Affairs at level 2:

• In cases where these documents have expired, people can now apply for permanent identity documents.

• Applications for identity documents will be reopened for those applying for the first time.

• Applications for the modification of details to ID documents are also now allowed.

• People who detect errors on their ID documents can also now apply to have the errors corrected. Motsoaledi says in general 4,000 people apply for this every month.
