Giyani police in Limpopo launched a large-scale search after the body of a 63-year-old man was found next to R529 near Maphata Village around 6am on Wednesday morning.

Brig. Police spokesman Motlafela Mojapelo said members of the community called the police. 

“Soyaphi Thomas Nkuna, a former teacher from Kheto N’umalo High School in Giyani and now a farmer, was found. He had gunshot and knife wounds. ”

The preliminary investigation indicates that Nkuna left his home in Mageva around 2 am. “He drove in his bakkie to patrol his farm and search for livestock. The family suspected wrongdoing when he did not return. ”

Nkuna’s gray-colored Nissan Hardbody, number plate BDM 086 L, is also missing.

“Police are investigating a case of murder and hijacking.”
