Kidnappers who robbed and kidnapped Trevor Erasmus, 73, of Alberton in southern Johannesburg on January 31, are reportedly demanding R10m for his release.
This is according to a reliable source close to the investigation, which says the kidnappers are under the impression that Erasmus’s family is financially well off.
“The family is poor. They don’t have that kind of money. They will not be able to pay the amount to the kidnappers for his release. The kidnappers seem to think that Erasmus’s family has a lot of money, but that’s certainly not the case, ”the source said.
Erasmus closed his office on January 31 and returned home. However, he never arrived home.
“He was kidnapped after leaving his office in City Deep. His car was found closed near his office and his cellphone was found in Swartkoppies Avenue in Brackendowns, Alberton. ”
A reward of R200 000 was issued for information regarding Erasmus’s abduction.
