In a media briefing posted to the Economic Freedom Fighters social media accounts today, Julies Malema highlighted the dangers of alcohol during the pandemic.
Julies Malema stated that alcohol contributes nothing to society and not long after his video statement aired the EFF released a media statement to oppose the lifting of the alcohol ban.
“There is no-one, no dignified person, no President, Lawyer or Chartered Accountant that can say “I am what I am because of alcohol.” Alcohol contributes nothing.” said Malema
Malema claims that alcohol will occupy hospitals and there will no longer be space for those infected with COVID-19.
“One person comes with a panga to his head, a doctor is called to come and attend to this person. While the doctor is still stabilizing the drunk hat with a panga to his head a COVID-19 critical patient needs the attention of the doctor,” said Malema
The theory behind what Malema is saying is that important resources will be used up during the pandemic on drunken fueled accidents which could have been avoided. Malema claims that South Africa in its current state does not have the correct resources as it is so allowing alcohol you are dividing the resources that are not available.
NewsliteSA has spoken to other citizens of South Africa, many disagreeing with the alcohol ban and believe that they as adults can make the right decisions to ensure that they and others around are safe while purchasing alcohol and consuming.
